Devised and run by two actors, Edith’s House arrived in Crouch End last year after three years in Rye, East Sussex. This unique and quirky concept was inspired by the owners’ Nanas and is a space where people can feel at home and enjoy some nostalgia about good times with family members, specifically grandparents and aunts/uncles. Edith’s House properly represents a home, having separate rooms including a bedroom and bathroom where customers can sit to eat and drink. The theatrical element is evident in each ‘room set’.
“Our menus are inspired by dishes we were made by our relatives or food items we baked or cooked with our Nans,” says co-owner Eaton. Expect traditional cakes, scones, soups and stews with a modern twist.
Previously only open during the day, Edith’s has recently started welcoming diners on Friday and Saturday evenings, offering a completely different menu that includes cheese fondue and other nostalgic dishes that have been modernised for the current palate. This is a fabulous place to spend an informal, relaxed evening.
‘So kitsch, so quirky, so cool, so clever and amazing menu, too delicious! We shared two savoury items for brunch, but all the sweet goodies on the menu looked so good!’ Hayley
