The Good Egg

The Good Egg, 93 Stoke Newington Church Street, Stoke Newington, London, N16 0AS

  020 7682 2120

In a Grade II listed building in Stoke Newington Church Street, The Good Egg is a neighbourhood restaurant that opened in 2015.

Inspired by the grand old cafes and delis of Montreal and New York as well as the food of the streets and markets of Tel Aviv, feasting-style menus have been specially designed to encourage sharing with friends and family. As the name implies, this venture started life with an egg-based range of dishes, mainly brunch/lunch type stuff – it has won an award for its shakshuka – but it is a wonderful place for dinner too.

You’ll find house-made pickles, cured and smoked meat and fish, fluffy Israeli pitas, plates of labneh, tahini and many other dishes inspired by the travels of the three owners, who hail from Tel Aviv, Montreal and California. There is a terrific wine and cocktail menu that has been carefully crafted to accompany the food.

Chefs will do their best to cater to allergies, vegetarians, vegans and religious dietary restrictions

‘Think of the best of what you love in the US given an Israeli/Ottolenghi twist – this menu is bursting with sunshine and flavour and you just want to order everything!’ Louisa

‘Cannot fault it. All the side dishes were just perfection – Brussels sprout coleslaw; who knew how great that could be?! The portions are huge and although we struggled it was too good to not just keep going. Special mention also for the house wine which is local. One of the nicest bottles of red I’ve had in a long time and an absolute bargain.’ Lauren
