Recently voted by The Telegraph as one of London’s best places to enjoy Scottish food, the newly relaunched branch in Highgate is the third one in the mini empire (the other two belong to owner James’s father). Pope’s Eye is the Scottish term for rump steak. There are other steaks available (sirloin, fillet, rib-eye and a massive T-bone) and burgers. Alternatively you can enjoy another Scottish pub-grub staple, macaroni cheese, cooked by James’s mum, She makes all of the puddings herself on site too. It really is a family affair. Further Scottish influence comes in the form of a magnificent whisky bar. There is also an excellent wine list. All steaks are served with chips, Bearnaise sauce and every conceivable type of mustard. If you fancy a decent steak at reasonable prices in a charming local venue washed down with a wee dram, look no further than The Popeseye!
‘If you are looking for a casual, warm, friendly local restaurant and you love red meat, would highly recommend. Steaks were delicious, followed by home made comfort puddings washed down by a couple of single malt whiskies.’ Nikki
