North London finally has a restaurant that serves not just good steak, but GREAT steak, at an affordable price. The thick cut rib eye (350g £25/500g £34 and easily enough for two) is the best you will find at the price and the sirloin (slightly cheaper) is equally good. Caramelised and almost crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside and with that unique flavour that one usually only finds in the US. This is because the meat is from grain fed cows, which is how they are reared across the pond, and charbroiled rather than grilled, which is what gives the meat this texture.

Starters include things like salmon ceviche and baby back ribs, sides include really good skinny fries, tomato & onion salad and truffled mac n cheese, and you simply have to try the berry pavlova with white chocolate sauce to finish. South African owner Ian knows a thing or two about wine and has some interesting options at really good prices. 250ml glass only £8.

There are options for non-meat eaters, and some other interesting meat dishes such as chateaubriand but this new venture is all about the thick cut steak. The service is superb, the atmosphere is fabulous, the chairs are comfortable, the decor is warm dark wood and British racing green.

Review:

‘We took our sons to celebrate a birthday and had the most fantastic evening. Lovely buzzy atmosphere, superb food (the steaks were the highest quality and all cooked perfectly to order) and the service was as warm, friendly and accommodating as you could wish for.’ Andrew
