Three Horseshoes

The Green, Letchmore Heath, Radlett, Hertfordshire WD25 8ER

Landlord Danny Williams is rightly proud of his quintessentially English country pub. Serving tasty, wholesome food from a classic menu of typically British fare with an emphasis on premium quality produce, the Three Horseshoes occupies a prime spot in a picturesque country setting (complete with village green and duck pond!), just 30 minutes’ drive from London (close to J5 of the M1 and just off the A41 between Watford and Radlett).

The pub prides itself on real home cooking using plenty of modern culinary touches while staying true to its traditional hearty roots, all prepared on site from excellent locally sourced ingredients. Pop in for lunch, dinner, a quick pint or a relaxed glass of wine. With daily specials including soup, risotto, pies, a catch of the day and a range of speciality sandwiches, plus steaks, burgers and salads, the ambience is deliberately unfussy and relaxed. Extremely popular with the locals, The ‘Shoes (as she is affectionately known to regulars) is well worth travelling to for those from further afield. The legendary homemade Scotch Eggs have a cult following and the Sunday Roast is to die for. Plus your pooch is allowed inside!

Delicious lunch! Homemade scotch egg is delicious, well coated, crispy and with a lovely soft yolk. The steak and mushroom pie came in buttery shortcrust pastry and was stuffed to the top with meltingly soft and tasty beef; it was accompanied by creamy mash and well-cooked vegetables. The other main of pea and mint risotto was also delicious, full of flavour and creamy rice. Dessert was an apple crumble with ice cream. The apples were perfect, sweet with cinnamon and a hint of clove and the crumble had just the right amount of sugar.
    Overall an excellent meal.
