LONDON’S TOUR DE LOO

toulousWe asked 13,000 foodies on our Facebook group to name their favourite restaurant toilets in London. Here are the top six.

Café Toulous (Hampstead Garden Suburb)

It’s all in the name. Two loos. Public ones to be precise. The hub of Yummy Mummies and Sunday lunches, Toulous was converted from – yes you got it – a duo of toilets. Whilst we can’t say the loos were named as many people’s favourite in London, or the most appetising for a restaurant venue, the clever zhooshing up of its now rather classy-sounding name has secured itself a safe place in our top 6.

Sexy Fish (Berkeley Square)

This newish openingsexyfish pins down all that an expensive central London restaurant should be. The fish head taps epitomise the detail and care that has gone into every facet of Berkeley Square’s latest addition

Dishoom (various)dishoom

From table bowl to toilet bowl, this restaurant has it all. Sprawled over four floors, with queues spilling out the doors, Dishoom has brought a flavour of India to London through a 21st century lens. We didn’t however expect this to influence the toilet design! Whilst it has made our top 6, ladies beware!

Chotto Matte (Soho)

The vibrantchotto neon corridor that leads the way to the electric sliding doors of Chotto Matte’s dark and dynamic toilets is one of our favourite features. As you walk down the stairs you are confused, intrigued and then excited. The sliding doors reveal a simple, black and mirrored décor – in-keeping with the slick design that Chotto Matte upholds from toilet to tartare.

Sketch (Conduit Street)

How could we not include the infamous Sketch toilets? Probably the most instagrammed urinals in London, these sci-fi-esque white pods have become a landmark attraction of their own. Sketch-goers go for the toilets, then the pink couches and lastly the tea.

Edith’s House (Crouch End)

edithsTea for two…on the loo! Although not quite in line with the other eateries as a fully functioning toilet, Edith’s House have creatively converted their bog into a seat for guests to enjoy their traditional tea on. Imagine stepping into your grandparent’s house and being able to choose whether to have your fresh scone and tea in the living room, dining room, bedroom or even on the loo!

PS the cute pic at the top is the toilet at The Summerhouse in Maida Vale (one of our faves!).
